Meet the speakers


Sara Thomson
Former Interim Group Company Secretary, Tesco
Sara has over 20 years’ experience in legal, compliance and company secretarial roles, across a range of industries, including banking and retail. For the last 13 years she has worked at Tesco, one of the world’s leading retailers, providing legal and corporate governance support to the Tesco PLC board and committees, as well as its group companies and shareholder base. Within a secretarial remit, Sara has led on a number of high-profile corporate actions and enjoys the challenge of shaping governance frameworks. Outside of work, Sara enjoys long walks with the family dog, house renovations (having completed her second last year), cooking, baking and exercise.

Jason Wright
Group Secretary, Nationwide
Jason is Group Society Secretary of Nationwide Building Society and has previously been Company Secretary at Barclays Bank plc and Royal Bank of Canada Europe, as well as holding senior governance roles and Santander UK plc. He is an experienced Company Secretary with a demonstrated history of working in the financial services industry over 25 years. Skilled in Corporate Governance, Board Advisory, Chair and CEO succession, Board succession, Banking (retail and wholesale), Company Secretarial administration, Pensions Trustee, Capital Markets, and Corporate Law. Jason has gained extensive experience through working in global insurance, UK retail banking and international universal banking organisations. A commercial company secretary and governance professional with strengths in plc, mutual and subsidiary governance, chairman and CEO succession, acquisitions and mergers and company administration. LLB Business Law graduate and Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute.

Neil Alderton
Partner, Linstock
Neil is a Partner at Lintstock, with over a decade‘s experience of leading board reviews for wide range of listed, private and not-for-profit organisations internationally. He leads the delivery of Lintstock's advisory mandates and regularly speaks on governance topics and trends internationally - most recently in Hong Kong, Canada and Australia. He also leads the development of the Lintstock Index, a data analytics tool that generates insights for clients and feeds the firm's research arm. In his spare time Neil enjoys playing the piano, cycling, and walking his dogs along the Suffolk coast.

Ceri Jamond
Head of Board Governance, National Grid plc
Ceri is the Head of Board Governance at National Grid plc, a FTSE 20 company that owns and operates electricity and natural gas transmission networks in the UK and the Northeastern US . With extensive experience in corporate governance, board advisory, and UK regulatory compliance, Ceri leads the Board governance function supporting the plc Board and its Committees. The team ensures robust governance frameworks, transparent reporting, and effective decision-making aligned with the UK Corporate Governance Code. Prior to the role of Head of Board Governance, Ceri held a variety of governance roles across National Grid focused on Board support, Shareholder and share scheme administration, entity management and advising boards on evolving best practice, ESG oversight, and stakeholder engagement.

Global Managing Director, Entity Governance and Compliance, Computershare
Maddie has a wealth of experience advising on and delivering practical corporate governance solutions. In her current role, she serves as the Global Managing Director of Entity Governance and Compliance, providing governance and company secretarial support to global companies. She also continues to lead UK Entity Governance and Compliance as Managing Director. Previous roles include Head of Governance for the Board of HSBC Holdings plc, Company Secretary for an AIM listed group and Senior Manager within EY's Entity Compliance and Governance team. Maddie is a fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute.
